MISS Universe Australia Erin McNaught wants to prove to people that she’s not “just a beauty queen”.
The Gold Coast model is the cover girl for a “bikini special” in the latest issue of men’s magazine FHM.
She said the Miss Universe event and magazine spreads in publications such as FHM opened a lot of doors for her this year, but she’s hoping to branch out over the next 12 months.
“It’s been a really fun year,” the ex-biology student said of 2006, a year in which she has emerged as one of Australia’s highest-profile models.
“A year ago I’d never have imagined all of this could have happened.”
But next year she wants to focus more on TV work and event hosting.
“I hope to firmly establish myself as not just a beauty queen,” she said.
In the latest FHM, she comments on beach etiquette and gives the thumbs down to men in so-called “budgie smuggler” swimming trunks.
