The competition, with 10,000 boys and girls from 12 provinces taking part, was the first beauty pageant in Cambodia after it stopped organising beauty pageants, including Miss Cambodia, in 1995. The organisers spent a total of $150,000 on the competition, with a top prize of $1,000, a motorcycle worth $1,200 and contracts with the local private Cambodia Television Network.
