Niharika Singh, the second runner-up at the Pond's Femina Miss India pageant tells us that she's fully armed to compete for the Miss Earth 2005.Ever since 2001, the year Miss Earth pageant was launched, no Indian has won it. But the ever optimistic Niharika has no reservations. "Even the thought that I can be the first one to win the Miss Earth title gives me immense confidence.
I'm really looking forward to making it happen," says the 23-year-old model from Dehradun, who feels that participating in an international pageant like Miss Earth, scheduled for October 23 in Manila, will take her to even higher grounds.
Brimming with confidence, Niharika is getting herself equipped in the typical 'beauty pageant areas' to stand shoulder to shoulder with international contestants. Noted designer Ritu Kumar has designed her national costume — an ensemble comprising lehnga, choli and two odhinis in deep red colour.
Costumes, an integral part of the contest, reveal a lot about one's culture, and personality. Given this, Mandira Wirk has designed Western casual wear to suit Niharika.
"I've designed taking into account the innocently seductive look she has. The black jacket, part of my collection, will give her the look of the woman in authority," shares Mandira.
