Vietnamese candidates for Miss World being discussed

VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Thuy Nga, Director of Elite Vietnam, which holds the right to send a Vietnamese candidate to the Miss World pageant, on September 11 said Elite Vietnam can recommend 4-5 candidates to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The board then sent an invitation letter to the one it chose. Elite Vietnam then prepared documents and submitted them to the Performance Art Agency under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for approval and licencing. This year, because of the scandal related to Miss Vietnam 2008 Tran Thi Thuy Dung, Elite Vietnam will first submit its list of nominees to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for approval. Elite Vietnam will then send the file of the approved candidates to the organising board of Miss World pageant. Nga refused to name the nominees, but she mentioned Miss Vietnam Global 2008 Ngo Phuong Lan and second runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2008 pageant Nguyen Thuy Van as two examples. She said that besides appearance, internal qualities are just as important. Ngo Phuong Lan can sing well, can speak English and French and has a good education. Thuy Van has just graduated from the Hanoi University of Foreign Trade, is working as an MC and has good communication skills. Though the Vietnamese representative at Miss World 2008 pageant has not been determined yet, Elite Vietnam has ordered fashion designer Cong Tri to design clothes for the candidate. Three other potential nominees are Miss Vietnam 2008 Tran Thi Thuy Dung, Miss Vietnam 2008 first runner-up Phan Hoang Minh Thu and Miss Universe Vietnam 2007 Nguyen Thuy Lam. Thuy Dung (1.78m, 86-62-91) has good body measurements but she lacks knowledge and is shy in communicating. Moreover, she is embroiled in a scandal that has not been resolved yet.
