Brazillian hunk Alan Bianco Martini Malgioglio, crowned Mr International 2007 at the grand finale held in Kuching last night, has acquired a taste for hot and spicy local food.
KUCHING: Brazilians are well-known for their ability to party, especially on New Year's Eve. So, ringing in 2008 so far away from the land of the samba could have been something of a letdown for Alan Bianco Martini Malgioglio.
But the 28-year-old from Sao Paulo said he would never forget Kuching because he ushered in the year as the newly crowned Mr International.
The well-sculptured stud, who beat 17 other men to clinch the title, won US$5,000 (RM16,500) cash, a hand-sculpted trophy worth RM33,000 and extensive modelling and casting opportunities.
During his one-year reign, Malgioglio will represent the Singapore Children's Cancer Foundation as its ambassador.
Malgioglio, who was crowned by 2006's Mr International, Wissam Hanna of Lebanon, said he had acquired a taste for hot and spicy local food during his 12-day stay here. "They're unique," he said.
Malgioglio, a crowd favourite, also snapped up the Spirit Award, an award given to the contestant with outstanding qualities of character, sportsmanship, achievement, personal growth and a positive contribution to the competition.
Oh Jung Sung of South Korea was the first runner-up and Aristotelis Spyridon Bolovinos from Greece was second runner-up.
Bassel Abu Hamdan of Lebanon won the National Costume Award, while Guidel Osberto Rivera Mansilla of Guatemala won the Congeniality Award.
