Korean Beauty Takes Third at Int'l Pageant

The runner-up in this year’s Miss Korea Pageant Jang Yun-seo captured third place at the 46th Miss International Beauty Pageant held in Beijing Saturday. Jang ranked third following Miss Venezuela Daniela di Giacomo and Mayte Sanchez from Panama. Jang, who majored in Broadcasting and Entertainment at Dongduk Women's University, came second in the Miss Korea Pageant after winning her crown as Miss North Chungcheong. She posted an emoticon-riddled message on her homepage that reads, “I got second runner-up. I’ve had many memorable days and hope to have many more, but today is one of the most important days ever. I want to say thanks to my parents first, and say love to my friends and those who always help and support me.” The crown, meanwhile, went to Daniela Di Giacomo from Venezuela, who became the sixth Miss International from the country since the pageant started in 1960. The fourth big beauty pageant following Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth, another Korean beauty Yeom Jung-a (now 34, first runner-up Miss Korea 1991) was ranked third in 1992.
