Yendi still hot pick

Miss Jamaica World Yendi Phillipps continues to be a favourite among bookmakers and pageant insiders at the Miss World pageant in China.

Phillipps has not fallen out of the top 10 contenders for the crown in a feature dubbed 'The Royal Flush'. The Royal Flush, a term borrowed from gambling, which comprises the top 21 of the 107 contestants who are in contention for the title. This top 21 is determined by eight Miss World experts.

The contenders' place in the Royal Flush is determined by her popularity and the media attention she generates during the pageant.

Yendi, who fell on the listing to 9th last week, is now back in 5th place, dubbed 'King of Hearts'. Miss Lithuania, Jurguita Jurkute is in first place on the Royal Flush, Dominican Republic is in second place, Miss China in third and Miss Malaysia in fourth place.

More bets

Additionally, even more bookmakers are placing bets on the Jamaican beauty.

Despite not finishing in the top three for the latest Miss World Fast track event, the Sports competition, Yendi is among the safe bets for the crown according to the betting companies.

In the Sports event, Miss United States Abigail McCary finished first, Sweden's Annie Oliv finished second, while Scotland's Nieve Jennings finished in third place.

However, of those finalists, Miss USA is the only contestant in the top five of the bookmakers' predictions.

While Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De La Cruz, dominates all 13 of the bookmakers' predictions as the number 1 contender, Miss Jamaica, is not far behind in second place according to 4 of the bookmakers, in 3rd place three times, in 4th place three times, and in fifth place twice.

Other contenders in the bookmakers' top five include Puerto Rico, Lithuania, China, USA, Venezuela, Brazil and Philippines.
