Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori will come to Vietnam today |
Today, November 26, Chairwoman of the Miss Universe beauty contest Paula Mary Shugart, current Miss Universe Riyo Mori and two Miss USA will arrive in Vietnam for the signing ceremony.
On November 22, the chairman of the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province, where the event will be held next June, signed a decision to form the organising board of Miss Universe 2008 with 22 members, headed by Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa province, Le Xuan Than.
The idea to host the contest in Vietnam has been pursued by Doan Thi Kim Hong, Chairwoman of Ciat Company, for the past two years, since she attended Miss World.
This August, Paula Mary Shugart surveyed Khanh Hoa and agreed to select Vietnam as the host of the next Miss Universe competition. Officials of Khanh Hoa province and organising companies (Ciat, CEO and Hoan Cau) carefully considered conditions set by American partners and submitted the scheme to the government. On September 26, the government approved the proposal of organising Miss Universe 2008 in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
The Hoan Vu (Universe) Joint Stock Company was established by Ciat, CEO and Hoan Cau on September 12 as the organiser of Miss Universe 2008.
According to American partners’ requests, Vietnam has to build an indoor arena with 7,500 seats, prepare 4,000-5,000 luxurious hotel rooms and other conditions.
The major stage will be built at the Song Lo Tourism and Entertainment Zone in Khanh Hoa province.
Khanh Hoa Vice Chairman Le Xuan Than said that though the contract was not going to be signed until tomorrow, Khanh Hoa had begun to build necessary works for the event already. “We are getting ready,” Than said.
