Miss Universe visited the Bronx to talk about AIDS prevention Tuesday

Zuleyka Rivera met with sick teens in the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center.

While the patients Rivera spoke to did not have HIV, the director of the adolescent AIDS program says Rivera's message is just as strong.

"We have to take care of young people who have HIV, but we also have a very strong mission in preventing HIV,” said Dr. Donna Futterman. “And that's why Miss Universe standing for, telling kids about how they have to protect themselves from HIV is so important to all the young people that we serve."

Rivera, who is from Puerto Rico, also serves as the International Ambassador to the Latino Commission on AIDS.
