There are four fast track competitions in the Miss World 2006 Final, giving contestants the opportunity to earn a golden ticket to the final sixteen: Miss World Sportswoman, Beauty with a Purpose, Talent Final, and Miss World Beachwear. In addition, two finalists will be chosen from each continental zone: one the public’s choice from the global voting, you can vote at www.missworld.tv/home/default_EventMode.sps. “The eyes of the world are all on stage” is the theme of this year’s Miss World 2006 Pageant. Woman from all over the world compete for this title, which will be announced September 30th live from Warsaw, Poland. I have narrowed down the 154 contestants down to my favorite thirteen, yes it’s a random number, but I couldn’t stop at just 10! Im not going to lie though, I didn’t read a thing about them, I base my opinion on looks…who doesn’t!

One of my personal faves, Venezuela won the Beachwear category and has an automatic bid to the finals! Venezuela commented: “The standard this year is very high and I didn’t think I would go all the way. It is very exciting to win the beachwear competition. I am proud to represent the people of my country as the first of sixteen finalists in Warsaw on 30 September.” Alexandra Federica studied Mass Communications, and is currently working as a Television Hostess in the news area, and is studying journalism. No wonder why I love her so much, she’s just like me…without the NFL/NBA under her belt, but I guess repping her country in Miss World, is a pretty big deal.
In the Miss World Sportswoman competition, girls were put through their paces with a series of tests, which included: steps, star jumps, burpees, sit-ups and press-ups. Supporting the athletes were the colorful cheerleaders from each continent giving their friends an extra boost with chants, banners and dances. The girls from Africa danced eagerly to a hand drum, while Southern and Northern Europe fought it out with different chants and the girls from Asia wearing all red had various body paints emblazoning Asia on their face and chests. No word yet on who won the Sportswoman, nor the Beauty with a Purpose category.
Each year contestants from around the world compete in the Miss World Talent Final. Singers, dancers and variety performers take to the stage to showcase their artistic abilities. Winning the award was Miss Northern Ireland who will be fast tracked through to the Miss World Grand Final in Warsaw on September 30th where she will join the final 16. This blonde hair, blue eyed, member of the young farmers club and various choirs sang her way into the Miss World Final with a show stopping performance of the Irish tune. “I cannot believe it, in my wildest dreams I never pictured myself standing here a winner. I am so proud’ said Catherine.
The 2006 Miss World Final will be held on Saturday 30th September live from Poland. It will be the most interactive Miss World ever. A combination of star judges and a worldwide vote will decide who is crowned the 56th Miss World.
